"Light and life", The Salvation Army's weekly radio program, is fun and informative with great music and interesting news and reviews.
Available in a 30 or 15 minute format, topics featured so far include: a look at a new Salvation Army café with a difference, how to deal with stress, the DVD release of NARNIA: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and an investigation into global warming.
The program is sent to more than 100 community and commercial radio stations across New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT.

We all whinge about petrol prices don't we? But can you imagine driving up to two hours just to do your grocery shopping? That's the situation of many hundreds of Australians that live in rural and remote communities. Lauren Martin filed this report from the north New South Wales farming community of Narrabri.

The Salvation Army's Don Woodland has served on the front line at earthquakes, tsunamis and horrific road accidents, providing a listening ear to the hundreds of people traumatised by these incidents. After retirement, Lt-Colonel Don Woodland released his memoirs. Lauren Martin spoke with him about his journey.

Approximately 25,000 people die everyday from hunger, or hunger related issues, according to the United Nations. International aid agency Oxfam have recently put together data, discussions and research from the world's leading development professionals in, 'From Poverty to Power'. Joanne Brain caught up with some of the leading advocates in the fight against poverty.

Nominations are closing very soon for next year's 'Australian of the Year' and we here at LIGHT & LIFE think we may have found the perfect candidate! Her name is Connie Woods and at 70 years old she's still a working drover. Lauren Martin visited her at her home in Barren Junction.
